LOC # 32 - Girlie

There's a new challenge over at Left of Center Challenges. The theme is "girlie" and we have 2 awesome sponsors for this challenge.  I got to play with this great image from Sassy Studio Designs.

I've colored Daphne Sassy with colored pencils and then fussy cut her out. I've layered a couple of girlie papers from my stash and added some pink flowers.  I haven't made a girlie card for a while and this one was lots of fun.
Now head on over to the LOC blog to check out all the DT creations, you'll see some more images from Sassy Studio Designs and or other sponsor for this week The Easy Wind.
I hope to see you join our girlie challenge, but if you don't do girlie then you can always choose any LOC theme.

PunkYouGirl - Things with Wings

It's midway reminder time at the PunkYouGirl blog for the Things with Wings Challenge.  Our amazing sponsor is Delicious Doodles.

I have made a fat page using Ivy Fairy. I've colored her with pencils and then cut her out. I added some glitter glue to her wings for sparkle.  The background I created with a few of my Glimmer Mist spray inks and the fence is a new purchase - Spellbinders Wrought Iron die.

LOC #31 - card for a male

Hello friends! It's time for another great challenge over at Left of Center Challenges. Our theme for this challenge is to make a card for a male. These are usually difficult for me to make but I adore how this one turned out. It could just be because I started with a fabulous image from Dilly Beans Stamps.

I printed Owl Always Love You on kraft CS twice. I colored with pencils and cut the only the eye out of the second image and used foam tape to pop it off the card. I layered on some textured paper from my stash and added some twine.
I hope you can find some time to head on over to LOC to share your talent with us, I'm always looking for ideas and inspirations for "male" cards.

LOC # 30 - Spring Fling

Hello my friends! This week at Left of Center Challenges we are celebrating Spring with the theme 'Spring Fling'.  I was lucky enough to get to play with this image from Delicious Doodles, our sponsor for this challenge.

This is Fairy Fae, isn't she lovely. I've colored her and her butterfly friends with pencils and then added a bit of glitter to their wings. I think Spring is my favorite season, however here in Arizona it only lasts about a week. We are already hitting the 90's here and it's only April!
I can't wait to see your beautiful springtime creations, make sure to join in the fun with us at LOC. We have fabulous sponsors and prizes for every challenge.

LOC #29 - Anything Goes - Dark Themed

Hello my crafty friends! It's time for a new challenge at Left of Center Challenges, the theme this time around is 'Anything Goes' however it must be dark. I have made an ATC with this lovely back-bend toxic ballerina from Smeared Ink.

I have colored her with pencils and cut her out and attached with foam tape to my ATC base. I made the flower from old book pages and then spritzed with a couple different shades of glimmer mist. I attached a skull bead to a hat pin so it could pierce my dancers heart.  I'd say that qualifies as dark :)
For some reason as I was coloring my ballerina it reminded me of a book I read last year, Swan Song. There was no ballerina so it must be the face mask that set my mind a wandering as I colored. The story is similar to The Stand by Stephen King so if you liked that one you'll get drawn into this one too.
Now head on over to Left of Center Challenges and let your dark side loose and create some spectacular and share it with us at Left of Center

PunkYouGirl - Lavish Lace

Hello Friends! I'm so excited to share the news that I've joined the PunkYouGirl DT! This is my first post as a member of the design team and our theme for the challenge is 'lavish lace', we want to see you use some lace on your creations. Our sponsor for this challenge is Stitchy Bear. They have so many different stamps to choose from you have to hop of over to check them out.
For my first contribution on the DT I have used La Llorona (The Weeping Woman).

The image is so amazingly shaded I just barely added a bit of color to it using colored pencils. I started with a white CS base and used the Tim Holtz Doily tag stencil and black soot distress ink to create my lace background.  I used a new die cut I just got a few weeks ago when a stamp convention came to town (so much fun!) and at the moment I can't remember who it's from. But I used it to cut out 2 pieces of white CS and used the same black soot distress ink to color it up and added it across the front of my card.
You should see the wonderful creations that the DT have come up with. Head on over to the PunkYouGirl Challenge Blog and then find some lace in your stash and join in on the fun.

LOC #27 = Favorite Books

There's another brand new challenge over at the Left of Center Challenges blog today, the theme is 'Favorite Books'.  Our wonderful sponsor this time around is Delicious Doodles.  I decided to do a journal page for this one.

Once it popped into my head what I wanted to do I went to figure out which journal I wanted to play in. the very first one I went to I found an older Poe project which you can see here.  And just by a happy chance the neighboring page was blank. Of course now that I'm typing I realize I didn't take a full picture of both pages together, ug.(will have to do that once there is enough sunlight to take a good picture) Anyway I used the same watercolor crayons to make the background similar to the first page. I have a tree stencil that I sprayed with ink and carefully put down on the page but it was still wet from the water color crayons that it just kind of blobbed everywhere. So I blotted with a paper towel. It doesn't look like I first envisioned but I think that it turned out pretty cool. The fabulous Raven image from Delicious Doodles really didn't need much coloring done. I lightly filled in some areas with colored pencils (lilac and silver). Then cut it out to add to my page.  The title I stamped with some older alpha stamps from CTMH. Then I added some random dots over both pages with metallic sharpies and a white paint pen.
What are you waiting for, create a project of your favorite book or story and join in the fun at LOC. We are still celebrating our first anniversary too so we have an 'Anything Goes' challenge happening all month long. Plus we have a new FB page we would love to see you there!

LOC Anniversary Event - Day 3

Hello my crafty friends! Today is day 3 of our Anniversary Event over at LOC.   For the event we are having an Anything Goes Challenge and there are many wonderful prizes. You can check out who our sponsors are, the rules for the challenge and see all the awesome prizes right here.
Our Anniversary Event runs from March 7th thru the 31st. Each day we are showcasing some of our wonderful sponsors. Today I have used a new image form Sassy Studio Designs, Sexy Cupid Sassy. This image just called for pink in my opinion.

I have colored her with pencils and used foam tape to pop her off the card. Her wings I colored really lightly with a silver pencil and then added a touch of glitter for some shimmer :) The hearts along the bottom are from  MFT - Layered Heart Border.  (psst  the LOC die-cut challenge is still going on too.)
So head on over to celebrate our 1st Anniversary and join in some crafty fun!  Oh and I almost forgot to mention we have a LOC FB page too! Come pop bye and say hello to us.

Happy Crafting!

Hearts & Harlequins

Hello friends! There is a fun challenge (and DT call) happening now over on the PunkYouGirl Challenge Blog. But you'll have to move fast to get on this challenge and DT call as it ends today.  The theme for the challenge is Hearts & Harlequins, so of course I had to use my favorite heart stamp from Smeared Ink :)

I created the background with the help of my Cuttlebug and the sentiment I wrote out on scraps of paper and cut down. Thanks for visiting my blog to check out my creation and taking the time to consider me for the Design Team.

LOC Challenge #24 - Cute vs. Creepy

It's time for another challenge at Left of Center Challenges. The sponsor for our Cute vs. Creepy challenge is Meljen's Designs.  I got to work with this fabulous image called Sugar Skull 1.

I started by coloring my skull with pencils and then cut out to add to my mini journal.  For the background on my journal page I started with some pages from a book and glued them down.  Well when I cut them I was first planning on an ATC so they were smaller than the pages in my journal...  opps.
So to hide that I added the black squares around the edge of the pages with a sharpie.  Then I sprayed some black dylusions ink. Then I scribbled with water color crayons along the top then let them drip down.  Then to add a bit of contrast I outlined my black squares with white paint pen.  Popped my colored skull off the page with some foam tape and voila, a fun and messy page to create.
Now head on over to the LOC blog to check out the amazing creations from the DT and then show us your cute vs. creepy creations.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 31

We made it! Today is the last day of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop. All the details can be found on Terra's blog.  Make sure you check all the past winners to see if you have any prizes coming your way.

I've played in one of my journals again for this last project. This is my watercolor journal, which is cool because I don't have to gesso the pages and the page has a cool texture that shows up when using my watercolor crayons.  I may have gone a bit overboard on the background, but I was having fun :)

I started with my watercolor crayons of course. Then I stamped some texture stamps from Unity and CTMH.  Then I sprayed with a couple different glimmer mists. I have colored this zombie mermaid (yep my friend Charina drew this) with pencils. When I cut her out and put her against my page she was so bright and glowing I had to try to figure out how to tone her down.  I ended up sponging her with purple ink. I added some dots with metallic sharpie and some glitter glue on her fin.

You can find this image and more over on Charina's blog and her shop, Stamp Effect.  I had zombies on the brain so that's what she's drawn for me so far but I've seen some of her other work in progress and I can't wait to play with more of her images!

I want to thank everyone again for visiting and commenting each and everyday. It's really helped me to keep going this month. I have a lot going on in my life at the moment and this hop has helped me work out some of my stress and relax while having fun making art. Not to mention all the fabulous projects everyone has made. I have a long wish list of new supplies and images that I want :)

Make sure to leave all the Wicked Bloggers some love and visit all the amazing sponsors stores, they have been so generous with all the prizes!

Happy Halloween!

Next stop Anna.
