Surf's Up!

I got this image from Tiffany Doodles by joining in over at the CDAC Progressive Freebie Challenge this week.  I stamped on craft paper and then used my colored pencils to coordinate with the paper from my older CTMH stash.  The waves are from MFT, I cut 3 strips to layer.

They are doing things a little bit differently this time around so head on over and check it out and join in on the fun.

Just For You

Here's a sweet little card I made for a new challenge blog I've found, The Cupboard Trilogy.  This is Challenge #2 - embossing.  I used my Cuttlebug folder to create the background and then used the direct to paper technique to color it.  I figured it looks like tall grass for my cute lil bug.  The image is a freebie from SK Digis.

Believe in Who you are!

This is my ATC I'd like to enter into the Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge.  The theme this week is owls.

TGI(almost)F!

What a crazy week, it's been one thing after another and I haven't had any craftin' time at all :(  I feel like I've been neglecting my blog after posting everyday while playing in the smudgefest.  I have images printed out and ready to color this weekend, I WILL find the time :)
In the meantime here's a card I did a while back that I don't think I ever shared.
Isn't she a cutie, she's Emo Elenora's Sunflower from Just Some Lines.  I colored her with pencils and layered her onto some older CTMH paper from my stash.

Sketchy Sunday

Welcome back to the final day of SmudgeFest 2012 oven on the Smudgy Antics Challenge Blog.  It has been so fun and I'm really happy that I participated this year, can't wait for next year.  I said  at day one that I felt like I had lost my mojo this summer and this week full of challenges has had me creating again so I'm beyond happy.  Some times you just have go for it and create whatever your little heart tells you too :)
Anywho.... the last challenge for the Smudgefest is a sketch....

The prize for today is the most awesome-est messenger bag EVER!!
I would really like to win this wouldn't you?!?!  If you want your name thrown in the pot for this little beauty then hop over to Smudgy Antics to post your entry you have today only so don't delay!!

For my final project I started as making a card, but I think I will turn it into a wall hanging.  It's about 7" tall and 5.5" wide.  I think if I layer it onto black CS and then maybe put in a black frame it will look pretty sharp :)  The image and sentiment is from Smeared Ink the Carnies Set. I colored her with pencils and then added some gel pen accents and glitter to her wings and buttons.  I stapled the white hemp as her tightrope.
Thanks for visiting and all your kind comments this past week, it's been so much fun!

Saturday's Song

Welcome to day 6 of the SmudgeFest over at Smudgy Antics Challenge Blog!  Today we were asked to create and ATC based on the song lyrics from Blackbird by the Beatles.  I found a cool youtube video if you'd like to hear the song. :)  Or visit Smudgy Antics as they have the lyrics there also, and while you're there join in the fun!
My image is from Smeared Ink, I stamped it in black and then used a black gel pen to add some dimension and shine. I cut her out and layered her on the blue CS that I stamped the tree on.  I can't remember who the tree is from at the moment.  Then I spritzed with blue glimmer mist to make the sky shiny and then used a blue and silver metallic sharpie to add the "stars" to the sky.
Thanks for stopping by!

Freebie Friday

I can't believe that it's already Day 5 of the SmudgeFest over at Smudgy Antics.  Today's challenge is an awesome one! Smudgy Antics provided us with a fabulous freebie that we were to use. This is Little Red Riding Hood - courtesy of Smeared Ink. Of course nothing can go easy for me, my printer ran out of black in the other day, and you'll notice I've been doing actual stamping for the past challenges.  Well I had to make a trip to the store between work, a parent meet and greet at my son's school and the our karate class. Whew I'm beat, but I got my project done!
I peeked at the challenge this morning so I'd been trying to come up with ideas all day.  I printed her out and colored her with pencils, I decided to add her to a journal page.  I had the Don't mess with Red running thru my head all day and then as I was coloring her I thought of the she's packin'.    hehehe it makes me giggle.  I figured Red usually hangs out in the woods so I made a tree and grass as the background.
Of course since it's the middle of the night I can't get a really good picture :(  I tried scanning but she just blew out so then I tried my camera in various rooms of the house.  I finally got this pic, but trust me it's brighter in person.
Thanks for stopping by and reading all my chitter chatter.  Only 2 more days of the Smudgefest... oh no!

Thursday Throwdown

It's day 4 of the Smudgefest over on the Smudgy Antics Challenge Blog! Today's challenge (or throwdown) has to do with color.  We are asked to use at lease 3 colors from this swatch.

These aren't usually my first choice when playing with my Smeared Ink stamps, but it turned out to not be as bad as I thought it might be.  I remembered I have some lovely fae stamps that would work perfectly with this color story.  I decided to work in my art journal again.

First I stamped this sweet fae and then colored her with pencils.  I stamped "curiosity" down the side of the page in blue, pink and purple.  Then I scribbled with my water color crayons and added water to blend them.  I added some more color to my fae with gel pens and then spritzed the entire page with some glimmer mist.  Fun, fun fun!

Here's another shot of the page in the sunshine and a closeup so you can see the shimmer of the glimmer mist.  My camera really doesn't do justice to the colors I used.
Thanks for visiting!  Don't forget to come back, there are still 3 more fabulous days of Smudgefest!  If you really like these challenges you should also check out the Smeared and Smudged Forum for monthly challenges and lots of inspiration and way cool people :)

Wordy Wednesday

It's day 3 of Smudgefest and the challenge today is a tough one.  Today we are to use words only - no images.  I decided to get out one of my art journals and figure out what to do.  I started with my watercolor crayons to create the background color on my page.

I still haven't mastered the technique yet so you can still see the texture of the paper along the edge where I had scribbled with the black crayon. But in this case I like the added texture.  I also stamped the chain link stamp in purple for more background interest.  Then I chose to use part of "The Raven" and end it with my NEVERMORE word stamp from Smeared Ink.

Thanks for stopping by, please visit the Smudgefest so you can be inspired by all the fabulous entries!

Trashy Tuesday

Welcome back to day 2 of Smudgefest 2012.  Today on Smudgy Antics the challenge is to create a project by upcycling some of your trash.  My first thought was "oh man I just threw out the trash", so then I had to think what else I had laying around.  Then it came to me :)  We had a really bad storm the other day and it blew over a shelf I had on my front porch and one of my flower pots was broken, yay trash!  Here's the before picture.

So now I was excited to have a starting point, but what to do with it....hmmmmm...So the first step was to wash it off and put a layer or white acrylic paint down.  While that was drying I grabbed some of the newspaper from yesterdays project and stamped a couple Smeared Ink images on it.  I was going to use child fae but it didn't really fit on the rim so I went with the heart from, Quoth The Raven set (my most favorite set EVER).  Then I sponged some red ink onto the heart and glued it onto the pot.  I used the Nevermore stamp and the chain link (from the same set)  and stamped those directly on the pot with brown Stazon ink.  Then I used a fabric soften sheet (from the trash) to add some blue ink onto the pot.    I covered everything up with some sparkle mod podge to help seal it.

Ta da!  I decided it would be a great decoration to add into an unbroken flower pot  :)

Fun fun fun!  I can't wait to see what the challenge is for tomorrow!  Visit Smudy Antics to see all the amazing entries and get the details to join in on the fun.  Did I mention that there are prizes every day!!  What are you waiting for.... join in the Smudgefest!

Monday Mash-Up

Welcome to Smudgefest 2012!  The wonderful team over at Smudgy Antics is holding their second annual week long challenge extravaganza!  The challenge today is Monday Mash-Up and we were given a list of items and had to use a minimum of 3 from the list. I've created this art journal page using the following items from the list:  paint (purple background), deco paper (green flags), newspaper (letters) also metal (in the form of metallic pens).
I've been missing my mojo this summer and thought the Smudgefest would be the perfect reason to get off my duff and get creative.  Plus I've been neglecting my art journal :(  So I got out my supplies and got messy, I forgot how fun that could be.
First I painted the lighter purple on the page then flicked the darker purple paint onto the page using an old toothbrush.  The deco paper is something that I've had in my stash for quite a while.  It's a bright green and had little tuffs of grass on it.  I think it was from an old springtime paper set.  I cut it into the flags and glued down the side.  Then I hunted thru the newspaper for letters for my title.  Both the stamps I used are from Smeared Ink, the chain link and Poe both from the Quoth the Raven set.  I used a metallic sharpie to add the dots to the flags and to outline the letters.
Make sure to come back tomorrow to see what I create next and visit Smudgy Antics to join in the fun!
