Welcome back to day 2 of Smudgefest 2012. Today on Smudgy Antics the challenge is to create a project by upcycling some of your trash. My first thought was "oh man I just threw out the trash", so then I had to think what else I had laying around. Then it came to me :) We had a really bad storm the other day and it blew over a shelf I had on my front porch and one of my flower pots was broken, yay trash! Here's the before picture.
So now I was excited to have a starting point, but what to do with it....hmmmmm...So the first step was to wash it off and put a layer or white acrylic paint down. While that was drying I grabbed some of the newspaper from yesterdays project and stamped a couple Smeared Ink images on it. I was going to use child fae but it didn't really fit on the rim so I went with the heart from, Quoth The Raven set (my most favorite set EVER). Then I sponged some red ink onto the heart and glued it onto the pot. I used the Nevermore stamp and the chain link (from the same set) and stamped those directly on the pot with brown Stazon ink. Then I used a fabric soften sheet (from the trash) to add some blue ink onto the pot. I covered everything up with some sparkle mod podge to help seal it.
Ta da! I decided it would be a great decoration to add into an unbroken flower pot :)
Fun fun fun! I can't wait to see what the challenge is for tomorrow! Visit Smudy Antics to see all the amazing entries and get the details to join in on the fun. Did I mention that there are prizes every day!! What are you waiting for.... join in the Smudgefest!
