Welcome to the Smeared & Smudged April Blog Hop. This month our theme is metal, there has to be metal somewhere on our project (brads and eyelets DO NOT count)! No special rules except to follow the S & S rule of there needs to be a stamp somewhere!!! Which is easy enough especially when Smeared Ink has such awesome stamps to choose from. For my project I repurposed a used fed ex envelope to cut out my tag shape, then I applied 2 coats of gesso to get the texture I wanted. I painted the entire tag with turquoise paint. After it was dry I used a dry brush to add metallic bronze paint. While all the paint was drying I stamped this gorgeous image from the Smeared Ink Nymph set. I stamped her in cocoa ink on an off white CS and then stamped her dress also in cocoa ink on B&T paper. I also added some of the metallic paint to her wings but it's difficult to see that here. I very carefully cut them out and attached the dress to the nymph and then to the tag.
On the left side of the tag is my first actual peice of metal. It's a rusted up piece that I found on one of my walks around the warehouse where my son's karate class is. I wrapped some bronze wire around the metal and attached to my tag. I also found the rusted up washer that I used at the top of the tag around the hole for my ribbon. Cool right? I also used the cross-hatch stamp from the Quoth the Raven set (also from Smeared Ink).
Thanks for stopping by and make sure to stop at all the other blogs along the hop. Don't forget to leave some love (we all love comments).
