LOC #106 - nothing square

Time for a new challenge over at Left of Center Challenges! This week our theme is "nothing square" and our sponsor is Kristy.

I decided to create in my mini journal and interpreted the theme a little differently.

My images are from Stampotique and I've colored them with pencil. I cut them out and added to my journal. The background was first gesso'ed for texture and then sprayed with a few glimmer mist sprays. Once that was all dry I doodled around the edge and added some dots here and there.

Please stop by the LOC challenge blog to check out all the DT makes and link up your entry to the challenge. I can't wait to see what you make!

Time for a new challenge over at Left of Center Challenges! This week's sponsor is That Craft Place. You have to check out their store to see the wonderful variety of images they have!

Our theme is week is to use mainly red. I got to play with The Pilot by Lisa Cree. I started by inking up my mini journal pages with ink pads in the direct to paper technique. I colored the pilot with pencils and cut her out to add to my page.  I added some silver to her and some bronze paint ont he background.  I'm still trying to come up with a sentiment or quote so if you have any ideas let me know :)

Please hop on over to the LOC blog to check out the makes of the DT team and join in the fun and show us your red creations - or anything goes as long as it follows the LOC guidelines.

LOC #78 - distress it!

Hello friends!  This weeks challenge theme over at Left of Center Challenges is "distress it!" Please make sure you distress your creation or as always you can choose anythign goes as long as your project is LOC.  For clarification on what we consider LOC please visit our rules page.

This weeks sponsor is the fun and fabulous Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  They have a wide variety of images, perfect for all your crafty creations!  For my mini-jounal page I have used Skelekidz Girl.

I've colored her with pencils and fussy cut her out to add to my journal page. I gesso'ed my pages and then sprayed with Dylusions ink spray in Bubblegum and Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Cornflower Daze.  The ink looked a little to uniform so I took the still wet pages and gently smooshed them together.  I love how fun and bright it turned out.

What are you waiting for?! Head over to LOC to check out what the DT have created for your viewing pleasure and then add your distressed creation :)

LOC # 66 - die cuts and/or punches

Today brings a new challenge over at Left of Center Challenges.  This week we are challenging you to use die cuts and/or punches, but of course you can always go left of center instead :).  Our sponsor is The East Wind. I was so excited to play with Twisted Venus.

I've colored her with pencils and cut her out to add to my mini journal.  I prepped my journal page with gesso and wanted some sparkle so added some blue glitter before it dried. Accidentally dropped a big glob right there in the middle but after I added Twisted it looks like she's throwing it so I think it works :) I also sprayed some blue ink so the glitter wouldn't be so stark against the white gesso background. I found the sentiment at Ginger's House  and figured my  glitter accident was meant to be. The work sparkle printed out lighter than the rest so I went over it with a blue gel pen.

What are you waiting for? Head over to LOC to see what DT have created to inspire you and join in the fun!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 16

It's day 16 of the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog Hop.  Please visit the Smeared and Smudged blog for the daily clues and all the rules to  qualify for prizes and to find out about the daily winners.  Can you believe that we just past the halfway point? This month is flying by. I want to send a big thank you out to all the hoppers that have stopped by.  You all make this even more fun than it already is. Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment :)

For my project today I working in my mini-journal.   I started by gesso-ing the pages and since I'm not very patient I went ahead and sprayed my glimmer mist while it was still wet.  It looked awesome after spraying Jack Frost and Cornflower Daze and I was so happy, then I added black and it sprayed out in one big clump :(  So I ending up taking a paper towel to dab most of the black away and since the gesso was still wet it all blended together. It's not the first time I've done this so you'd think I'd learn, but oh well I still like how it came out looking like night sky, which is what I was going for in the first place.

My images are all from MFT. Very little coloring needed. Then I realized I forgot to add a moon so I cut a small circle and added some gesso on it for my moon texture and glued that to the page.

Next stop of the hop is Sandy.  If you get lost along the way the complete list of Wicked Bloggers can be found to the left in the side bar.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 11

It's day 11 of the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog Hop.  Please visit the Smeared and Smudged blog for the daily clues and all the rules to  qualify for prizes and to find out about the daily winners.

I played in my mini-journal for today's project.  I liked the background from my ATC yesterday so much that I wanted to start off with that as my background again. Once that was done I drew in my border with sharpie and a bit of white pain pen.  My skull image is from Wonderstrange and the candles are from CTMH.  I colored it with pencils but it wasn't bright enough for me so I went over with gel pens. Then cut them all out to add to my mini-journal.

Next stop of the hop is Sandy.  If you get lost along the way the complete list of Wicked Bloggers can be found to the left in the side bar.

LOC #47 - Fairy Tales

This weeks challege at Left of Center Challenges is Fariy Tales and our sponsor is Delicious Doodles.  I've used Eva The Witch.  I've colored her cloak red so she looks like Little Red Riding Hood.  I think this is one gal that the big bad wolf would not want to mess with.

After coloring her with pencils I cut her out and added to a mini journal page.  I used a Tim Holtz stencil called Shatter and sprayed with Black Marble Dylusions ink. I added a spider sticker for a little bit of sparkle.
Stop by the challenge blog to find out what other fairy tales the DT team have decided to share this week.

LOC # 45 - no designer papers

Hello my crafty friends!  It's time for another fun challenge over at Left of Center Challenges.  This week our sponsor is Ike's Art and the challenge is to not use any designer papers. I happen to have a massive paper stash but sometimes it's fun to not use those papers.  I got to play with Robot ~1 at Ike's Art.

I decided to play in my mini journal.  Since we couldn't use designer papers I decided to make my own.  I used one of my Cuttlebug folders to create the background.  I inked up the folder with chocolate ink and then pressed it down onto each of my journal pages. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out as it's the first time I tried it, but it worked great I think.  Since the page still looked a little stark with the chocolate on white I sprayed tattered leather glimmer mist over both pages. I colored my Robot ~1 image with pencils and added some bronze glitter glue. I cut her out and added her to my page.
I really love how my journal turned out. I hope you join us over at LOC and show off what you can create without using any of those designer papers from your stash.

Smudgefest Day 5 - Flight of Fancy

It's day 5 of the Smudgefest at Smeared and Smudged and I'm having a blast, but I'm beyond tired from so many late nights stamping.  Next year I really have to take some vacation days during Smudgefest :)  So this is going to be a quick post for day 5.  The challenge theme for today is Flight of Fancy and they asked for a project that features wings.

I've used Succubus 5 from Smeared Ink.  I've colored her with pencils and cut her out to add to my mini journal page.  I wanted to create a night sky for her to be looking out upon.
Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to join in the fun at Smeared and Smudged, there are still fabulous prizes to be won!

Smudgefest Day 4 - Toil and Trouble

It's day 4 of the Smudgefest over at Smeared and Smudged. Today's challenge theme is Toil and Trouble. We had to pick at least 3 of the potions from the cauldron.

Lots to choose from, but then you have to decide how to make them all work together.  For this challenge I decided to work in my mini-journal. This is the perfect size journal to play with :)  Both the pages together give you a play area of about 5.5" x 4.25".

I started with misting the pages with mint green spray. I guess I didn't shake it well enough cause I didn't get the glittery sparkle that I got yesterday when I used it on my peacock page. Then I used a stencil and brushed over it with black ink.  Well the ink looks more grey....
so I did the direct to paper technique around the edges with the black ink pad and then also stamped my word "listen" in black ink.  My image is Tattoo Fairy Plain from Smeared Ink.  I colored her with pencils and gave her silver hair (my metal?) and a silver edge to her wings. Just in case I also added a metal brad that has a layer of glitter on it.  I also added some green glitter glue to her wings.

LOC Challenge #24 - Cute vs. Creepy

It's time for another challenge at Left of Center Challenges. The sponsor for our Cute vs. Creepy challenge is Meljen's Designs.  I got to work with this fabulous image called Sugar Skull 1.

I started by coloring my skull with pencils and then cut out to add to my mini journal.  For the background on my journal page I started with some pages from a book and glued them down.  Well when I cut them I was first planning on an ATC so they were smaller than the pages in my journal...  opps.
So to hide that I added the black squares around the edge of the pages with a sharpie.  Then I sprayed some black dylusions ink. Then I scribbled with water color crayons along the top then let them drip down.  Then to add a bit of contrast I outlined my black squares with white paint pen.  Popped my colored skull off the page with some foam tape and voila, a fun and messy page to create.
Now head on over to the LOC blog to check out the amazing creations from the DT and then show us your cute vs. creepy creations.

LOC Challenge #23 - Scary Stories

Hello my crafty friends! This fortnights challenge over at Left of Center Challenges is scary stories and our fabulous sponsor is Ike's Art.

I chose to use this scary guy in my mini-journal. I colored him with pencils and then cut him out to foam mount on the page. My background was created with water color crayons, dylusions ink spray and sharpie markers.
Please come join us this week at LOC and play in our scary story challenge.

31 Days of Halloween - Day 30

Hello my friends! By now you know this is the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop, and if you want to find out the current clue or past winners you have to start at Terra's blog.

I've played in my mini journal again for today. I started by gluing down some book pages. Then I swiped my lime ink pad over both pages. Next I sprayed some grape glimmer mist and stamped my border stamp. This fabulous skeleton is from Paula Best.  I stamped him on CS then cut out, I only colored a portion of him with pencils and a little bit of gel pen. Oh and the spider is a sticker from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by!

Next stop Anna.

31 Days of Halloween Day 25 and LOC #17

Hello my freaky friends :) I have a couple projects to show today so I won't be too chatty. First up is the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop. Check out all the details on Terra's blog.  It's Friday so you know what that means right?!?!?  It's Smeared Ink day!

I made a project and then realized it was SI day so had to think of something quick. I decided to play in my mini journal again.

I used my fabulous Poe stamp. Then I knew I wanted to use my sprays and a stencil but didn't feel like cutting out a mask, I know I'm lazy. So I decided to just use my rubber stamp as a mask, which resulted in a ghost like shadow around Poe. First I sprayed with Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist, then I added my stencil and sprayed my Black Marble Dylusions. A quick but fun page.

Next up is my DT project for Left of Center Challenges. The theme is Halloween / Creepy. Easy peasy if you are already playing along with this hop.  The sponsor for this challenge is Rick St. Dennis. (Who is also one of the sponsors for the 31 Days hop). I got to play with Mr. Shadows.

I colored him with pencils then fussy cut him out to add to my card. The papers are from last years Halloween stash.  Rick has also opened up a shop on Zibbet, you've got to check out all the images he has available!

Well that was way more chatty then I figured.  Next stop is Anna.

Happy Friday!

31 Days of Halloween - Day 23

Hello once again my friends! It's day 23 of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop. To see what this is all about or to see if you are a winner please hop over to Terra's blog.

I've made another mini journal page today. This zombie businessman is another one of my friend Charina's images she drew for me, and exciting news she's working on getting a blog up and running with her images for sale.  As soon as she's all set up I will let you all know :)
I colored him with pencils and fussy cut him out. For my journal page I started with stamping 'beware' in grey and black all over my pages. Then I swiped the pages with my purple ink pad then around the edges with my lime ink pad.  I have this cool stencil from The Crafters Workshop called Mini Branches (TCW208S).  First I sprayed grape glimmer mist then moved my stencil slightly and sprayed with black dylusions. I was messy fun :)  Then I added Mr. Zombie with some foam tape so he pops off the page.

Thanks for visiting and all the kind comments all month long.

Next stop..... Anna.

I will also be entering this page into the current challenge over at Smudgy Antics. The theme is to only use Smeared Ink stamps. There is still plenty of time to join in the fun :)
